Family BoatBuilding Weekend
July 18-20, 2003
Join families in all 50 states and many countries during this great event for wooden boats and family fun!

It began in 1998 when 60 families built and launched their own boat in beautiful St. Michaels, MD. Since then, this family boatbuilding event has spread throughout the world!  And you can be part of it in Plymouth— North Carolina's only location for the event this year!

"Group launching of the skiffs"....St. Michaels, 1998

"First trip out"...St. Michaels, 1998

You'll be guided by master boatbuilder Marvin Spencer as you and your family build a beautiful little Bevins skiff, perfect for more family fun on the water!

An added bonus is that you'll build your boat next to the new replica of the Roanoke River Lighthouse and the Maritime Museum.

The Bevins skiff, designed by Joe Youcha of Alexandria Seaport Foundation, is a flat bottomed rowing skiff with moderate rocker and a handsome sheer. At 11' 8" in length and 4' 6" in width, this skiff rows exceptionally well, is stable and well suited for sheltered waters. She is framed in Douglas fir, has marine plywood sides and bottom, and cypress seats. She is fastened in bronze and can be finished to your taste when you return home with her. She's a potential family heirloom and at the very least, a great memory maker!

The $755.00 kit includes oarlocks and sockets and a set of sawhorses. Oars are available. Call for pricing. Requirements: MINIMUM of 3 for each family or group.
Limited to 15 groups. Call 252-793-4777 or 252-793-3939 today to sign up or get more information.
