Loud, fast and lots of fun...
that's Rumble on the Roanoke in Plymouth—the Outboard
Drag Boat Association U.S. Grand National Liquid Quarter Mile Races.
Drivers
from 16 states participated last year for a total of 79 entries. Crowd estimates
varied from 7 to 9 thousand spread out over the 1/4 mile track area. At least 3 speed
records were reset in Plymouth last year: 139+ mph for the Unlimited
Class; 119+ mph for the Pro Gas Class, and 109+ mph for the Superstock
Class.
